so tomorrow is my birthday and it's a big one. it's got a zero in it, yes. and yes, i don't know how i got here. it's gone by so fast. yadda yadda yadda.
i always use my birthday as a day of evaluating. i try not to dwell so much on the past. i've gotten better at doing that. i mean, the past is past and there's nothing much i can do about it. but in looking forward, i do like to come up with a plan.
i've got some personal plans in mind. my job is ending at the end of july so i'll have to look for another job. figure out what i want to do since it appears i am in fact a grown-up. (not old enough to retire though. so shut up.)
but i don't really have any creative plans. and i'm kind of at a loss of ideas. so what do you think i should do in 2013? i'd like to get my photomojo back. and when i look at the projects i completed this past year, it's kind of a lame list. not much went on. so there's that. OMG WHAT SHOULD I DO?
if you send me some ideas, i might have a prize to give out. you know, like a birthday present.
so leave me a comment and tell me what you'd like to see me do.
thanks,
maryse

I think you should write a book about the conversations you've had with your boss' ...
:) Happy Birtdhday! OMG, birthday!

1. (early) Happy Birthday!
2. Relax.
3. Don't over-think it. Often the spontaneous, serendipitous things we create are the best. Of course, you have to have your camera/hook/yarn in your hands to happen upon the serendipitous.
4. So just do...do what makes you happy and revel in every moment of it.
Like you, I'm mired in frustration trying to come up with a 2013 big overarching project. And the more I mull, the more I think (and hope!) that something will just naturally arise. May I suggest a project that is "Just Maryse"? Spin, knit, crochet, design patterns in a methodical and instinctual way. And document it either for a book project (self-publishing works!) or just to share and remember.

I think you should knit something super special, using a yummy yarn - and have it be JUST FOR YOU! Why? Because you deserve it, my friend :) Happy Birthday!!!! (And yeah, how did that happen, 'cause I'm not too far behind you on that silly birthday with the zero in it.)

Happy early birthday! How about making your physical health a priority in 2013?

Oops, sorry. I overlooked the "creative plan" part. If you find your photomojo, please share some with me! I'd like that too.

I would like to see you run (or run/walk) a 5K!

Take the 365s up a notch and do one of those video journals featuring a daily one-second video clip. Edit them into a movie (there's an app) and at the end of the year you've got a great story to watch. I've seen quite a few of these lately and am really inspired to try!

From afar I always recommend coming up with a new tradition, whether it is a birthday tradition or a 4th tuesday of every month tradition, it helps you be creative and gives you something to look forward to.
Other creative ideas include Maintaining a "theme" calendar for the month. So let's say in june the theme is flowers, you take a different picture of flowers every day. Then maybe December is... traditions, take a different picture every day that is related to the theme. Mix the theme up every week or month or whatever and at the end of the year look back in a happy way (not a dwelling, but more a nostalgia) at what you did this year.
Other creative idea. Find a pattern and yarn that you love and make yourself a sweater whether you knit, crochet or sew it, make it for you and LOVE IT

I love your photography, which is always really interesting, but I've missed the macros. I would love to see you do some interesting things with macros, but I don't have the foggiest idea what a technically or artistically interesting thing with macros would be.

I hope you have alovely day my fellow Sagittarian friend!
Maybe a swap or a *-along would bring back some mojo! If you'd like to do either, count me in!

1) stop being so hard on yourself
2) continue your crusade to convert the workd to c granyysquares (or a version of), onemotif at a time
3) give yourself some kind of a daily photo assignment for the year. Not a 365 or a self-portrait. Something you make up just for yourself, so it'll feel fresh and you can make your own rules. Like, one year, I stopped wherever I was at precisely 3:45 and had to make the best photo I could right then and there.(Made lots of bad ones! ). Or it could be one week you need to make a a photo of something that starts with A every day, and then next week B every day, then C etc--you could go through the alphabet twice. Or,you could come up with a subject (like, friends' kitchens) and have to shoot one every week. Added benefit--um, you'll be in your friends' kitchens. They will feed you :-)
OK, shutting up now...I wish you a spectacular birthday and splendid 2013. XOX

I'd definitely like to see you do a 365 photo project again! Happy *almost* Birthday!

Love Gale's "stop at x time and shoot" idea. Why not pick the time of day you were born? Unless it was, like 11:17 p.m. That could get tiring.
Happy, happy birthday, you young thing, you!

cauchy is so wise. I think you should spend the day making a list of and ruminating on all the things you're awesome at (it's a long list!) and vow to do more of those things!
Welcome to the 40 club. It's fabulous!
